The College of Science and Visiting Filmmakers Series present a screening of Cosmic Dawn: The Untold Story of the James Webb Telescope.

Cosmic Dawn (James Tralie 2025) tells the story of the James Webb Telescope’s delicate assembly, rigorous testing, and triumphant launch. Showcasing the remarkable complexity of creating an instrument that can peer billions of years into the past, the documentary follows the telescope from an idea developed at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center all the way to the launchpad in French Guiana. It includes never-before-seen footage captured by the Webb film crew. 

Our screening caps off Space Day-- a collection of engaging lectures, hands-on STEM activities, planetarium shows, and tours of George Mason’s satellite dish -- sponsored by the College of Science.
